Mission:
Our goal is… To Prepare, Inspire and Support, Leadership for the
Improved Future of Our Community!
Community Vision, in partnership with the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, has been creating a more leader-full community since 1989. This community information and leadership capacity building program has developed a strong reputation for preparing today’s leader with the skills and knowledge they need to face tomorrow’s challenges. Ongoing networking, continuing community education, volunteer recruitment and involvement take place after the program through the Leadership Association of Osceola County.
Leadership Osceola County for civic and business people, Teen Leadership, for High School students, Osceola Youth Leadership for at-risk teens and Leadership Legends for active seniors are unsurpassed leadership development programs. Through these efforts approximately 120 participants of all ages who represent the diversity of the Osceola County community enroll in these programs.
Over the course of all programs participants are introduced to our community in a unique and exciting way. Through real life experiences, the class learns of the strengths and challenges of the community, in which they live and work. Carefully crafted program days offer participants exciting, skill-based knowledge and a new focus on community leadership skills development. Community Vision’s comprehensive leadership initiative encourages participation from qualified residents who wants to make a positive difference. The primary beneficiary will be the Osceola County community.
The 12 week Leadership Osceola program kicks off in mid-February with a two-day team building retreat. Teen Leadership (a dual enrollment Summer School class) embarks on their program with a daylong team-building program of physical activities. Osceola Youth Leadership, a targeted program for at-risk Liberty High School ninth graders and Leadership Legends explore personality traits and team building qualities. All introductory leadership elements are designed to remove the class participants from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allow their total immersion into the leadership experience while also serving to bring the leadership program participants together as a group to encourage camaraderie during the rest of the program.
The remainder of leadership programming leads participants through a series of invigorating and insightful daylong experiences that cover a multitude of community oriented subjects and issues. No stone is left unturned in the pursuit of community orientation and leadership awareness.
Leadership Legends runs concurrently with Leadership Osceola and is a partnership program between Community Vision and the Osceola Council on Aging. The Senior Resource Alliance generously provides funding support to offset program costs enabling program tuition to be affordable for all seniors.
Teen Leadership begins recruiting, would be high school juniors and seniors in the spring with classes beginning in June. This program is a partnership between Community Vision, Valencia Community College and Osceola District Schools. Students who complete the program earn both high school and college credit.
Osceola Youth Leadership is a partnership with Osceola District Schools through a Safe Schools Healthy Students grant. At-risk ninth graders are identified and encouraged to participate in the semester long program. The classes are after school two days a week. The first day focuses on leadership development and life skills. The second day these students explore our community through hands-on activities and field trip. At the end of the course, these students have received the skills to be productive students and healthy individuals.
